NEW SHORT FILM ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Calling: A Short Film Encourages Christians To Go Into Missions
According
to "The Calling" press release, an international
team of 75 people from 24 different nations worked
together to bring life to a Short Film that was
created by writer and co-director Hadassah Northe
from New Zealand. She said, “I’m still running to
those in need and it will probably be my whole
lifetime but really, this film is my story,” said
Ms. Northe. The Calling is a short movie
whose goal is to encourage people to follow the
calling that God has for their lives, no matter the
cost.
The co-directors of The Calling Ruben
Nussbaumer from France and Hadassah Northe have
taken a very unusual approach by choosing to make
the film available for free on the website
www.the-calling.net.
They want to encourage people to use it in their
church or youth group.
The Calling
was released under a
Creative Commons License
- Attribution No Derivatives.
Which means that The Calling can be shown in
public freely, without asking any permission or
paying any royalties. The only limitations are to
keep the movie in its original form and to credit
the authors of the movie.
The
Short Film was shot in Denmark and Scotland and the
film contrasts a beautiful setting with the struggle
the main character, Lydie Sewell from Switzerland,
faces while trying to reach out to those in need
despite the difficulties along her way. There are
many lessons to be taught by viewing the movie and
discussing it in youth groups and in camps. The
story is an allegory of what many Christians face by
standing up and responding to their vocation.

The actors and crew who brought to reality the idea of the writer and co-director Hadassah Northe, were all volunteers for two years on a ship called Logos Hope. A vessel with people from all around the world and travelling all around the world.
Writer and Co-director Hadassah Northe from New
Zealand is a missionary kid, who was born and raised
in Papua New Guinea. Growing up as a missionary kid
in the mission field she grew a heart and passion
for missions. She said, "My brain sees things in
pictures and that is how God often communicates with
me. The Calling is a picture of my journey
with God and finding His heart for His people." Photo:

"My desire is that people all over will be encouraged to keep God as the priority and fulfill ‘The Calling’ that we all have on our lives as Children of God"
Co
- director, Director of Photography and Editor Ruben
Nussbaumer is from France, who studied audio visual
and multimedia. He said, The Calling was his
first experience directing a fiction, helping make
Hadassah's vision a reality. " I have rarely
experienced such a close team work during the whole
journey. And I would say that our common passion to
see lives transformed through the message of the
Bible is very probably the main reason for it.
