Hembree, born in 1938, had been President of Cornerstone TeleVision in Export, Pennsylvania, since 2003, and is thought to have suffered a heart attack.
A message posted on the Cornerstone TeleVision website (www.ctvn.org) said, "On Thursday, June 10, 2010, our beloved friend, brother, and President of Cornerstone TeleVision, Ron Hembree went home to be with the Lord.
"Our hearts are broken for Cathy Hembree and the children but, as the apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonian church, 'We are not like those who have no hope, For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.'
"While we are mourning, Ron is rejoicing with the one he loved so much, and taught us about.
Please keep the Hembree family in your prayers as we all work together through this time. As we have more information we will pass it along to you. Please remember God is always faithful and will be faithful to help us all through this, we covet your prayers and support as we all press in to the Lord during this difficult time."
Ron Hembree was ordained at the age 23 after having
studied for the ministry at Central Bible College,
Southwestern Assemblies of God College, Evangel
College, Southwest Missouri State University, and
St. Joseph's Catholic College.
He had a Doctorate in Ministry from Phoenix Theological Seminary and had also been awarded an honorary doctorate from an Illinois bible school. Ron started his career as a writer for the national headquarters of his denomination.
He also worked as news editor for KWTO Radio in Springfield, Missouri, and had written hundreds of articles for various national publications such as Billy Graham's Decision magazine, Christian Life, and others.
He had a daily television program called "Rejoice" which aired for seven years before starting "Quick Study." He also originated the popular "His Place" television program which is now viewed on some 50 stations across the United States.
He was the author of more than 60 books, some of which were bestsellers.
Hembree served as Assistant Commissioner of Corrections for Arkansas under Governor Winthrop Rockefeller. While in that position, he built two prison chapels and set up the chaplain's program for the state's prison system. He was publicly commended both by the Arkansas House of Representatives and the Senate for this activity. He has also served as pastor of several churches during his ministerial career.
"Quick Study," the 5-day/week, his 30-minute television program started January 1, 1990, in Pittsburgh, PA. The program was viewed on several satellite networks and seen in every state of the U.S., and every province of Canada. For many years it was aired daily in the U.S. on several religious networks, as well as appearing daily on several independent stations.
"Quick Study," "Good Friends, Inc." also produced a 30-minute weekly youth series called "Just The Facts" and a children's program called "The Adventures of Enoch."
"Quick Study" has twice received the prestigious Covenant Award given to religious programs nominated and elected for their excellence.
In March 2002, "Good Friends, Inc." merged with Cornerstone TeleVision, formerly WPCB-TV, based in Pennsylvania. One year later, Ron was appointed the new president of the ministry.
CTVN is a viewer-supported network broadcasting more than 100 different programs weekly, including nine original programs produced locally and viewed over WPCB Channel 40, as well as reaching over 85 affiliated stations across the U.S. and via satellite through C-Band dishes and SkyAngel.
Married to Cathy, Ron was the father of eight children.
